في أول تصريح له حول سياسة بلاده تجاه سوريا، أكد وزير الخارجية الأمريكي أنتوني بلينكين، الالتزام بالعملية السياسية بموجب قرار مجلس الأمن الدولي رقم 2254 وتمديد التفويض عبر الحدود لتقديم المساعدات والمساهمة في التخفيف من "معاناة الشعب السوري".
